Track Info:
Although it has hosted car and bike racing for several decades, Cadwell Park has in one sense remained one of UK motorsport's best-kept secrets, being tucked away as it is in the rural Lincolnshire countryside.

One of Britain's most picturesque motor racing venues, Cadwell started life in 1934 as a 0.7-mile motorcycle road race circuit. It has remained a firm favourite with spectators and competitors alike ever since then.

Widened and lengthened to 1.3 miles in 1953, it became a regular venue for the earliest single-seater racing categories, 500cc Formula 3 and, by 1960, the preceding Formula Junior category of cars.

The 2.25-mile full circuit configuration which we have today was opened in 1962 and includes the fearsome and photogenic Mountain feature, a favourite viewing spot for car and bike racing because the vehicles actually lift off the surface of the track if they are going fast enough.

When the full circuit was first used, Cadwell was still primarily a motorbike-racing venue but started to host some important car race meetings. However, because of the narrow confines of the circuit, a maximum two-litre engine capacity was imposed for the fastest car classes.

Acquired by Brands Hatch Circuits in 1987, Cadwell continued to thrive at the heart of British motorsport during the 1980s and '90s, with packed calendars including events for scooters, superkarts, rallycross and even a stage of the RAC Rally alongside the traditional Clubman and National mix of motorcycle and car racing.

The spectacle of racing on Cadwell's complex and undulating twists and crests, plus its superbly scenic setting means that the track remains a favourite with race goers and is acknowledged by competitors as one of the most demanding challenges that UK motorsport has to offer. It has three configurations – the rarely used Woodlands circuit, the short Club circuit, and the splendid, daunting Full circuit - and is nicknamed the 'mini Nurburgring'.

The historic wooden barn which once stood at Cadwell may be gone, having made way for circuit improvements, but the circuit has lost none of its idyllic charm.
